Sunny Lee has spent most of her professional career establishing programs, managing and training staff, and building communities valuing life-learning and formal education. Ms. Lee was most recently the Founding Director of Student and Residential Life for the American University Preparatory School (AUP) an international private, for-profit high school. Ms. Lee was responsible for overseeing programming and operations for the Residential Student Life Program. Ms. Lee trained and managed a full-time and part-time staff and managed the finances.
Prior to AUP, Ms. Lee was the Housing Director at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising where she oversaw the daily operations of a residential housing program for 400-600 students per quarter. Ms. Lee has also held positions at Yanbian University in China as well as OMF International.
Ms. Lee received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Asian American Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara and completed the Residential Care Facility for the Elderly Administrator Certification Training Course.
David S. Kim, MD, PhD, MBA is the Assistant Director for the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, an Associate Clinical Professor at The David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, and Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor at the Keck School of Medicine of USC.
Dr. Kim received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of California, at San Diego. He then received his medical degree from the State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn, NY (Downstate). Dr. Kim completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at The George Washington University, Washington, DC and advanced his training with a Master’s and PhD in Clinical Research and MBA from the University of Hawaii.
Dr. Kim has served on many American Congress of Obstetricians & Gynecologists (ACOG) National Committees, including the Coding & Nomenclature, Ambulatory Practice, and Practice Management Committees. Dr. Kim served as the immediate Past President of the Korean American Graduate Medical Association, Board Member and Research & Education Chair of the National Korean American Medical Association, and co-founded the Korean American Health Coalition. In recognition of his contributions, he recently received the 2016 California Medical Association Foundation Robert D. Sparks, MD Leadership Achievement Award.
Ms. Langford has over 10 years of experience managing operations and property management for Big Rock Partners. In addition to managing all elements of human resources, Ms. Langford has been responsible for risk management, expense management, accounts payable and receivable, tax filings, and tenant relations for several entities.
Prior to Big Rock Partners, Ms. Langford served as a retirement plan coordinator at T. Rowe Price, where she helped manage the daily operations and communications of retirement plans for clients, including the account for a national hotel chain.
Receiving her B.S. From Frostburg State University in Western Maryland, Ms. Langford is a licensed California Real Estate Agent and has her Property Management Certification.
Davis Park develops and manages FPCIW’s technology initiatives and programs. The FPCIW is a center of excellence in Front Porch, one of Southern California’s largest not-for-profit providers of retirement living communities and affordable housing. Davis has two decades of program development experience in technology implementation in senior, low-income, and other underserved communities to explore and deploy innovations to help people live well. He has served as a presenter or facilitator in dozens of regional, national, and international conferences. Davis is the former director of Community Technology Programs at the Little Tokyo Service Center, where he managed several community-based initiatives that focused on bridging the digital divide.
Davis is also an inaugural member of the Zero Divide ZFellows, a program developed to facilitate technology adoption and social justice to underserved communities. He has served on several boards and committees dedicated to promoting technology access, adoption, and policy, and holds a BA in anthropology from UC Berkeley and a Masters from UCLA’s Urban Planning Program.
Ginna Baik is the Senior Care Practice Leader for CDW Healthcare, a leading provider of technology solutions for healthcare organizations nationwide. Baik is responsible for leading CDW Healthcare’s strategic business development initiatives in the senior care market, helping to define the necessary technology solutions for senior care organizations while strengthening and expanding industry partner relationships.
Baik joined CDW Healthcare in 2014 after holding many senior roles in the long-term care market and gaining several years of experience focusing on technology in senior living. Previously she served as the national director of innovation and resident technology for Emeritus/Brookdale Senior Living, where she was responsible for developing and creating a national strategic plan focused on implementing technology for seniors. Prior to Emeritus, she was senior vice president of engagement and innovation at ConnectedLiving, a senior social platform, focusing on building technology solutions for the senior living and long-term care markets.
Baik has spoken at several conferences such as HIMSS, America’s Society on Aging, Argentum, Senior Housing News, National Investment Conference, What’s Next Boomer Summit and Leading Age. Most recently she was awarded by Mary Furlong and Associates, Leader in Technology Award in 2016.
Richard Ackerman formed BRP in 2004. BRP is an opportunistic real estate investment firm that has invested in and managed over $800 million in assets since its formation. In 2012, BRP began to focus on senior housing development as there was a distinct supply-demand imbalance and fragmentation in senior housing developers. Mr. Ackerman formed Big Rock Senior Housing, a national leader in developing and managing new Class A senior housing communities of $50 million and more. Mr. Ackerman serves as the Senior Managing Principal of BRP and Big Rock Senior Housing.
Prior to BRP, Mr. Ackerman served as the Head of the Los Angeles office of Apollo, overseeing all investments on the U.S. West Coast and Japan for the global private equity firm, and in August 1999, he was appointed by Apollo as the Chief Executive Officer of Atlantic Gulf Communities Corporation (an Apollo portfolio company). Mr. Ackerman was responsible for turning around one of Apollo’s largest investments, Summerville Senior Living. Summerville was then one of the largest private assisted living operators in the nation. Prior to Apollo, Mr. Ackerman served as President and co-founder of Crocker Realty Trust, a private REIT, and Crocker Realty Investors, a publicly traded REIT.
Judith Lee Kim has served as a hospital administrator and operator for City of Hope since 2016, delivering care for the elderly and debilitated residents in the long-term care community. Prior to City of Hope, Mrs. Kim was a Physician Relations-Business Development and Public Relations Coordinator at CHA Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center. She began her career in healthcare starting in 2012 with her Administrative Fellowship at Genesis HealthCare, a 177-bed hospital in Los Angeles, and was promoted as the Director of Business Development.
Mrs. Kim received a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Aging and a Master of Science degree in Gerontology from the University of Southern California.
In addition to Sun Bay, Mr. Kim is also currently a Managing Partner of Big Rock Senior Housing (BRSH). BRSH is a national leader in developing large upscale senior housing rental communities that consist of independent living, assisted living, and memory care. Mr. Kim has been involved in the senior housing industry for over 15 years.
Prior to BRSH, Mr. Kim was the Head of Acquisitions for Carefree Communities, then the fifth largest national owner and operator of manufactured housing communities and RV parks. Prior to Carefree Mr. Kim was the Chief Investment Officer at Big Rock Partners (BRP). BRP is an opportunistic real estate investment firm that invested in and managed over $800 million in assets. Prior to BRP, Mr. Kim was a Vice President at Apollo Real Estate Advisors, an Assistant Vice President at Oaktree Capital Management, an Associate at Merrill Lynch Real Estate Investment Banking, a Senior Analyst at Walt Disney Imagineering and an Analyst at Disney Development Company.
In 2006, Institutional Investor News selected Mr. Kim as one of “The 20 Rising Stars of Real Estate” in the nation. Mr. Kim graduated with an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.A. in Economics from UCLA.
